The Texas Turk's Head cactus is the mighty barrel cactus of southern New Mexico and Texas. This form is from Pecos County, TX. The plants can grow to 20-24 inches high and 15 inches wide. The beautiful, bold red spines shimmer in the sun. Golden yellow flowers in summer are very large-to 2.5 inches across. Often, flowers have red centers. The fruit is edible. Hardy to zone 7 and sold in 2.5-inch pots.
