The Big Nipple Cory-Cactus is a lovely plant hardy to zone 6b/7.  Long, dark spines on multi-branched plants that form low mats or mounds to 3 feet across.  The flowers are large, bright lavender to magenta over long periods from March to September.  This Sacramento Mountains form was brought to us by Stoney Creek Cacti.  The fruits are juicy green, tasty berries. 4"H x 36"W after many years.  Zone 6b/7.  Full sun or in the shade of other plants.  Sold in 2.5" pot.
