One of the best RED/PINK flowering Opuntias from Claude Barr's collection. The rutilas, a diverse wild hybrid group from western Colorado make good garden plants. Slightly flattened, cylindrical stems and deep reddish-pink flowers in June. Compact habit. 6" high by 24" wide. Zone 4. Dry fruit. Sold in 2.5"-pot.

Considered one of the best garden varieties, period. A compact, yet vigorous plant worthy of much acclaim. Densely spined in gold and completely covered with double, rich peach flowers in June. From our mentor Claude Barr this gorgeous garden variety is contained and polite. Its stunning golden-yellow flowers have a bright-red eye, unlike other forms. It’s fantastic in large containers.
